Ukrainian Forces Use Drones To Hunt For Russian Columns West Of Kyiv
As Russian invasion continues, Makariv may be small in size, but it has big strategic value as it blocks Russia's armed forces from encircling Kyiv. Ukrainian volunteer fighters use drones in the area for reconnaissance that can be used by Ukrainian artillery units to strike back.
Incredible to see how a cellphone-controlled drone - basically a nifty little toy originally - is now saving lives and helping defeat a tyrant. Respect and admiration for the Ukrainian people and soldiers. You are literally an inspiration to the world. This will never be forgotten.
Stay strong and well guys. I was transferring two families that lived in this area (diff. villages) to their temporary homes in my country. One of them was robed in their own house. Russians were going from house to house in their village, rounding people up in living rooms and searching the houses for money, jewelry or anything valuable. Next morning they packed their things and left with 4 small bags. The other family just spent night in forest because artilery/mortars started shelling their village.
That's a DJI drone that they are using. It is GPS enabled, has automatic functions, remembers its takeoff and landing points, etc. It costs about $400 on Amazon for a slightly smaller version. I own one, which I'm looking at right now as I type this message. Glad to see that technology has gone to helping those in great need
