Growler: The Radar-Jamming US Aircraft Going to Germany
The US Navy is deploying six Growler electronic warfare aircraft to Germany.
The jets jam and destroy enemy air defence radar.
The Pentagon is stressing the move’s aimed at bolstering NATO’s eastern flank and says the jets won’t engage with Russian forces.
Best electronic attack aircraft. Can't wait till it gets it's sensor upgrades as it still uses the ALQ218 and ALQ99 which were used on the Prowler which is still the best to date. When it gets the AN/ALQ-249 Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band upgrade it will be even better then it is now and that is saying something since it's already the best.
It's strange, two seat FA-18 Super hornet's, F-16's, A-4's, A-7 Corsair II's all look better than their single seat versions.
I think there's also a two seat French Rafale version that looks better too.
Four seat versions of the A-6, ie., the EA-6 Prowler also looks better.
Not so great looking as two seat versions IMHO, F-15's, F-5's.
The original F-4 Phantom II prototype was a single seater and just didn't look right compared to the later two seater.
Growler is a sensationally great aircraft. Germany should join the US and Australia in purchasing this great asset rather than just relying on the US to deploy them there at the whim of American administrations.
