The Russian army's MOVE in Kiev was TACTICAL
Russia has in places, around Kiev for example, been out thought and out fought and Russia has no choice with other difficulties but to withdraw and regroup. Ukraine has the problem that by killing a number of useless commanders they will replaced by new tacticians and frost bitten starving and weary troops replaced. In the West we have to make sure these brave saviours of democracy are so well supplied they can continue to reduce Russian formations to dust.
"Never trust a Russian!" was my angry WW2 Vet Grandfathers rant , now it's the world's mantra.
I don't believe in what the Kremlin says, about the retreat of their army, etc. Usually they mean the opposite... Slava Ukraini! Much appreciation to Turkey, for their efforts to stop this terrible war.
Ironically this is possibly the only truly successful tactical operation Russia has managed to bodge together since the invasion began.
Cut off the retreat and do what needs to be done, if they don't they will met them on another battlefield. Russia brought the fight to Ukraine, all is fair for Ukraine.
Little putin's soviet last century army has definitely reduced military operations in Ukraine. They lost over 4000 vehicles and 15,000 personal.
I'd agree with the statement that " they reduced operations " Big Time. Hence the Retreat.....
Putin knew he could not take Kyiv so withdrawing some of his troops would have happened anyway therefore Russia have gave up nothing at the negotiating table.
The amount of Russian equipment lost around Kiev. Proves that it wasn't tactical. It was a serious attempt to take the city. Thousends of Russian dead speaks to that.
To have a functioning Ukraine after the war an intact state capital that functions is required. The Russians are very aware that others would seek to profit from a vacuum if Ukraine cannot administer itself. It has watched closely the mess the USA made in other countries and does not want to repeat the mistake itself.
Being suspicious and paranoid not believing that Russia is pulling troops as a good faith towards peace talks is what can cause war to continue and not being cautious could be deadly. Ashamed we can't take a persons word.
