Invasion of Ukraine: Russia States More Limited War Goal to 'Liberate' Donbass
In a scaled-back formulation of its war goals, Russia said on Friday that the first phase of its military operation was mostly complete and it would focus on completely "liberating" Ukraine's breakaway eastern Donbass region.
We're not being pushed back from Kyiv, we just don't want it. Never wanted it, really, we just ended up there because the Ukrainians changed the street signs and we got lost.
It might sound plausible but the troops north and east of Kiev remain at the end of 100 mile supply lines and the initiative in that area remains with the Ukranians - I'm only an armchair general not a real one but I can still recognise a military fiasco when I see it.
They almost reached Poland, but their goal all along was just Donetsk and Luhansk? You’d think the people who pioneered satellites would have better navigation. 🙄
