Village Near Kharkiv Liberated from Russians - 'We are Pushing Them Back' Says Ukrainian Soldier
Now liberated by the Ukrainian troops, the village of Mala Rohan in the eastern Kharkiv region still bears evidence of recent presence of the Russian troops on the ground.
Two burned-out tanks with their turrets ripped off stand just outside damaged homes in the village.
Kharkiv governor Oleh Synegubov said on March 27 that a counter-attack by Ukrainian forces had liberated the village, some 20 km east of Kharkiv.
Ukrainian serviceman Maksym told Reuters he thinks the mood of the invading Russian troops is low.
"We are pushing them back slowly, but steadily. I think their morale dropped. Most of them already understood that they made a huge mistake when they came here. Therefore, I think they have no chance here, we will win," he said.
Ukraine's second-biggest city and one of its hardest hit, Kharkiv has been battered since the start of the Russian invasion. Russian attacks have hit residential areas, schools and hospitals in Kharkiv.
