Huge crisis: Russia Seizes more than 500 Aircraft!
The leasing companies had already announced that they were terminating their contracts with Russia immediately, which meant that Russia would have technically been forced to return the planes by the end of this month. So of course they seized them anyways. The companies would have seen this coming.
Without spare parts those planes will have 3-6 months of flight time left before they become unusable. Expect to hear of planes crashes in increasing frequency there after that time period.
With no spare parts ,replacement engines or manufacturer Telemetry and maintenance support they will be Not air worthy ( by Non Russian Standards) within weeks . Cannibalising parts might extend that to a few months for some Aircraft. But by that point the leasing company would not want them back, and NEVER deal with Russia again.
Desperation move. He can't do anything with them. Can't fly them to any other countries, no spare parts and no support. He doesn't have that many pilots, mechanics, crew to operate them anyway. They will become like his old tanks. They will be left abandoned in a field.
