The Russians Confirm the Damage to the Raptor-Class Battleship Near Mariupol!

The Russians Confirm the Damage to the Raptor-Class Battleship Near Mariupol!

The Raptor is a close inshore patrol boat of about 23 tons, a typical battleship is over 35,000 tons. No it’s not a battleship, it’s not even a ship, it’s a boat.

Lets get one thing straight. What has been destroyed are NOT battleships. The Raptor is a patrol boat. Two others are ALLIGATOR class landing ships. Im not denigrating Ukranian successes but lets get the technology right.

"Largest loss in Russian naval history" This guy has clearly never heard of the Russo-Japanese war. The Japanese sunk far more than a few patrol boats and a landing craft. People who speak of history and know nothing about it drive me crazy.

Moscow may be trying to portray what is happening around Kyiv as a strategic realignment, but we all know they took a thorough whipping. They simply don't have enough soldiers and tanks left in the area. It's not a withdrawal when all your tanks have been blown up or captured, and your soldiers run away.

Let's get something straight here. A "battleship" is not another name for any warship. It is a very specific name for a particular heavy capital warship class, typically of 30,000 - 65,000 tonnes displacement and with a crew of well over 1,000 personnel. The very last ones were built in World War 2. The Russians do not have any battleships, nor do the Royal Navy; only the USA  a few (mostly museum ships) and one or two other countries have any left at all. So can we just say - stop using the term battleship, it is totally inaccurate.
