The Endgame: Russia Has Already Lost in Ukraine

The Endgame: Russia Has Already Lost in Ukraine

Regardless of if Russia achieves its military objectives in the country, it has already lost in nearly every conceivable way.

There is no clear path to a positive outcome for Russia in Ukraine. It could win every future battle, but it has already lost.

It's amazing how almost every Ukrainian soldier seems to have a LMG or, more often, an AT weapon of some sort.  No military in the world has ever been so AT heavy in their planning.  Late war German infantry were probably the closest having a Panzerschrek in every company, at least one Panzerfaust in every squad and a certain amount of anti tank magnetic mines in every platoon (at least on paper).  Add some flame throwers for certain units and you have some pretty dangerous infantry.  The way we've been arming Ukraine, it's still no contest on who's better armed - especially when you consider the range of the modern weapons!

I suspect you'll soon hear talk of it tailoring it's objectives to what it believes it can still achieve. It knows it can't win this war, so it's settling for destroying as much of Ukraine's infrastructure as possible, which is why it's frozen and seized assets should be used to help rebuild the country.

As far as I have seen, Russia has still not started calling up reserves, which take a month to train up. As long as they haven't done that, they don't have a manpower advantage. Ukraine does, they started calling up reserves on day one. Those initial reserves will be coming into the line now. More on the way too, Ukraine has 900k reservists. Russia has only WMD's, and that's not a good option for anybody.
