Watters Investigates Why Gas Prices are So High in California
Jesse Watters Primetime' host weighs in on the Democrats' 'green dream' and gas prices in California versus the rest of the country.
I have lived in CA multiple times, and it’s always been about a dollar more than the nation, but since 2021 it has been steadily increasing every month and now it’s unbearable to see how much the prices are across the state. Being in the military I purchase fuel on base and the prices match whatever the state taxes are and I still pay almost $2 more than the rest of the nation because of CA fuel tax.
One thing nobody talks about is the price of diesel. It's over 7 a gallon in California. Eventually that will raise the prices of everything else. Not that it is the only thing that will cause a rise in prices, but it will add to it.
The electric grid in many parts of the US couldn’t handle the switch to electric cars. Heck, Cali can’t even handle all the Air conditioners on a warm day.

It's easy to see that California's are being (overtly) taxed - it's in the pricing. When the difference between high and low grade octane is only pennies apart, it's always a tax issue. In other words it's not cost of production, but taxation and to some extent, corporate profits, that drive costs up across the board.
