Canada expanded the sanctions list for Russia, adding 14 Russian oligarchs and family members, including 2 daughters of Russian President Putin and the wife of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Maria Aleksandrovna Lavrova.
He expanded the sanctions list for Russia in Canada following the United States and the United Kingdom. Canada added a total of 14 Russian oligarchs and family members to the sanctions list, including the daughters of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Katerina Vladimir Tikhonova and Maria Vladimir Vladimir Vorontsova, and Maria Vladimir Lavrov, wife of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Maria Aleksandrovna Lavrova.
"These actions show that Canada's Russian President Vladimir Putin and its partners will not stop blaming Russian regime for its accomplices in the invasion of Ukraine," Global Affairs Canada said in a statement.
In his statement, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly pledged that Russia would continue to take further measures to respond to its violence and hold Putin accountable, adding that Russia would "pay for its crimes" and that Russia would continue to "load heavy costs".
Other names on the sanctions list include Russian billionaires Petr Aven, Mikhail Fridman, Oleg Boyko and Mikhail Gutseriev.
