Ukraine War: Ukrainian Solders Stand Firm in Barvinkove

Ukraine War: Ukrainian Solders Stand Firm in Barvinkove

Sky News' Alex Rossi visits the village of Barvinkove south of Kharkiv, and speaks to Ukrainian troops ahead of an expected advance.

Russian forces are continuing their attacks on Ukraine's industrial heartland in the eastern Donbas region.

To think that these people were living peaceful lives just two months ago are now under constant threat from Putin's forces is just horrible! They have been through so much and it's just heartbreaking!

Putin could have been seen by history as having been a strong leader who rebuilt his country with his many years in power. Seems as if he will be instead be known as a man who traded one theoretical border with NATO in Ukraine, for a real one in Finland.

As Martin Sørensen, and many others, have already pointed out, the weapon at 03:02 is a Swedish-made Carl-Gustaf. And the ammo is the armour penetrating slpsgr m/66 anti-tank grenade (shaped charge). So, if that weapon was shown as German-made, to make some sort of point, it failed. The origin of this weapon does not make Kremlin involved in a proxy-war with NATO. Yet.

But for sure, Sweden and Finland are joining the alliance shortly.

(Yes, I'm fully aware that these grg m/48:s were shipped from Canada. But the narration wasn't taking that into consideration.)

As a former Swedish tank-killer platoon leader, I'm happy to see that they will be used in action. The Ukrainian troops will actually be taking out the same type of MTBs as my boys were trained to kill during the cold war. A well-drilled pair (shooter/loader) may deliver up to 8-10 anti-tank grenades per minute. And they are deadly accurate in the hands of the right person.
