Putin Tells Forces to Seal off Last Mariupol Fighters
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered his troops not to storm the Azovstal steel plant, where the last group of Ukrainian fighters in Mariupol is holding out.
Instead, the president told them to seal it up so "not even a fly can escape" and said Russia has control of the strategic port city.
The massive, four square-mile plant has become the last bastion of Ukrainian resistance in Mariupol.
Ukraine's deputy prime minister has demanded that Russia allow an immediate humanitarian corridor for civilians to escape the steelworks in Mariupol.
That poor lady survived the Holocaust to die in a cold basement begging for water at 91 years old. Absolutely vicious and cruel. How many other people are suffering?
Thinking about the differences in people's lives that makes me cry. We are a lot more fortunate than the people in Ukraine who are suffering in the war. when I think about the pets those have to be abandoned because their owners were not be able bring their pets with them or the owners got killed by weapons of the war that gives me the greatest dejection.😭
"In an urban society, everything connects. Each person's needs are fed by the skills of many others. Our lives are woven together in a fabric, but the connections that makes society strong, also make it vulnerable."
No, i think the Azovstal steel works has plenty of relevance. The reason why the Russians were finally able to stop the Nazis in WW2 was because they hunkered down in the Red October steel works.
"I only studied a little history. I've learned that there are two currents of thought in human society. The opinion that there are things worth more than human life and the opinion that there is nothing preferable to life. When people begin to fight, it's on the pretext of the former type of people and it justifies the latter when they stop."
